Fox’s Peter Doocy Asks Jean-Pierre What West Wing Is Saying About ‘The Possibility of Speaker Trump’

At the White House press briefing on Wednesday, Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy asked press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre whether the White House or President Joe Biden are “loving” the “chaos” among House Republicans following the ouster of Rep. Kevin McCarthy as Speaker. And also if the admin has thoughts on the floated idea of Donald Trump as the next Speaker.

It’s not just among MAGA social media users that the idea of Trump for Speaker has popped up. Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene brought it up on Tuesday night, too — albeit also on social media. Texas Republican Rep. Troy Nehls already said he plans to make the nomination.

Fox News host Sean Hannity talked about it as a serious possibility on his show Tuesday, and Trump was asked directly about the idea during his courtroom presser on Wednesday.

After asking Jean-Pierre about whether anyone in the administration is “loving” this internal House Republican conflict, Doocy followed-up and asked about Trump. KJP did not commit to a point of view, other than to say that it’s not up to them.

“We don’t care who they, who is in the race or who is out the race,” she said.

DOOCY: In any of the meetings about this in the last 24 hours, has anybody in the West Wing heard anybody talking about the possibility of Speaker Trump?

KJP: This is something for House Republicans to figure out. This is something for them to fix. We’re not going to get involved in the speakership. We don’t care who they, who is in the race or who is out the race. That is not for us to figure out. The president doesn’t have a vote. No one here has a vote. They have to figure this out.
