Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) announced on Monday that she would no longer “sit on committees or participate in the [Republican] caucus” so she can dedicate more of her time to Elon Musk’s “DOGE” presidential advisory commission.

After Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) said he would work to get his “fellow lawmakers to follow” the advice of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) – which, contrary to its name, will not actually be a government department – Spartz announced she would also dedicate her time in Congress to advancing DOGE’s agenda.

“I will stay as a registered Republican but will not sit on committees or participate in the caucus until I see that Republican leadership in Congress is governing,” she wrote on Musk’s social network X. “I do not need to be involved in circuses. I would rather spend more of my time helping @DOGE and @RepThomasMassie to save our Republic, as was mandated by the American people.”

In another post, Spartz added, “.@realDonaldTrump, @elonmusk and @VivekGRamaswamy are our only hope to drain the swamp through reconciliation, and we can come up with more than $2T to fully offset tax cuts. The swamp is very deep, @DOGE!”

Politico congressional reporter Olivia Beavers reported on Monday that some Republicans believed Spartz’s announcement to be a “reaction to her not getting a seat” on the Ways and Means Committee, citing two unnamed sources “familiar with the matter.”

President-elect Donald Trump tapped Musk and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the DOGE commission in his second administration last month.

“Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies,” announced Trump. “It will become, potentially, ‘The Manhattan Project’ of our time. Republican politicians have dreamed about the objectives of ‘DOGE’ for a very long time.”

Since Trump’s announcement, the DOGE project has received support from Republicans, Democrats, and independents, including Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
