Hannity Peppers RFK Jr. With Questions About His Record In Contentious Interview: ‘I Did a Little Research on You’

Sean Hannity interviewed independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. once again, but this time it was a far more contentious version than previous iterations.

On Monday, Kennedy announced that he will no longer challenge President Joe Biden for the Democratic nomination. Instead, he is running as an independent against Biden and presumptive Republican frontrunner Donald Trump.

Mediaite broke the story of Kennedy’s impending bid last week. The political scion and conspiracy theorist was a welcome presence on Fox News and Newsmax, where he received favorable coverage in his effort to topple Biden. In July, Hannity even held an hourlong town hall with the candidate.

After Kennedy announced his departure from the Democratic contest, speculation swirled (and continues to) about which major party candidate he may siphon more votes from. At least one member of Trump’s camp appears to think Kennedy could pose a problem for the former president.

“We’re gonna be dropping napalm after napalm on his head reminding the public of his very liberal views, dating back to 2012,” one anonymous source told Semafor last week. “We have a lot of stuff on him.”

During Tuesday’s edition of Hannity, the host welcomed Kennedy to the show before immediately reciting a slew of those views:

It’s interesting because everybody’s now trying to analyze, you know, whether if there’s a three-way race with you, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden, who would you more likely draw from? So, I hope you don’t mind, but I did a little research on you. You’re pretty liberal. You know, you’ve called for curbing logging, oil drilling, fracking. You wanted to eliminate it. You called it had a victory for democracy. You wanna curb U.S. fossil fuel extraction. “Keep it in the ground,” you once tweeted. You want a ban on fossil fuel extraction, a ban on fracking. You called the NRA once, a “terror group.” You supported, over the years, Democrats – Gore, Kerry, Obama, Hillary. You praised Bernie Sanders multiple times. You support affirmative action. So, why is this party of yours– why didn’t they want to allow you to compete? ‘Cause that’s as pretty liberal of a record as anybody I know.

Kennedy laughed and seemed somewhat taken aback by the rundown.

“You have a litany of talking points from statements I’ve made over 40 years,” the candidate said. “Some of them are stale. Some of them I never said. But, you know, what is your question? Why is the Democratic Party– why I’m not running for the Democratic Party?”

Hannity disputed Kennedy’s claim.

“By the way, I’m giving you comments that you made in 2016, ’17, ’19,” the host said. “Endorsements. We know the years Gore, Kerry, Obama, Hillary, Bernie Sanders. They’re all recent quotes! The NRA quote you made about calling them a terror group was 2018. So, these are recent positions you’ve had.”

Hannity proceeded to interrogate Kennedy over his past comments about the NRA, fracking, endorsements of Democratic politicians, and other issues. The host ended the interview by suggesting another town hall with the candidate
