Former President Donald Trump praised Republican primary rival Vivek Ramaswamy on Tuesday and said he is “not done yet” after Ramaswamy stopped spending money on television commercials in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Reacting on Truth Social to a report about Ramaswamy’s decision to halt commercials in the two states, Trump wrote, “He will, I am sure, Endorse me. But Vivek is a good man, and is not done yet!”

While Ramaswamy is technically running against the former president, he has been accused by many of being a Trump surrogate since joining the Republican primary earlier this year.

Following NewsNation’s GOP primary debate this month, Trump – who skipped the event – hailed Ramaswamy as the winner.

“Birdbrain looked different & lost, but I give her second place,” wrote Trump in reference to Nikki Haley. “Vivek WINS because he thinks I’m great.”

After the Colorado Supreme Court barred Trump from the state’s ballot this month, Ramaswamy released a video calling on all Republican presidential candidates to withdraw from the ballot in solidarity with Trump.

Ramaswamy defended his decision to halt television commercial spending in Iowa and New Hampshire on Tuesday, denouncing such ads as “a trick that political consultants use to bamboozle candidates who suffer from low IQ.”

He wrote, “We’re doing it differently. Spending $$ in a way that follows data…apparently a crazy idea in US politics. Big surprise coming on Jan 15.”
