Jamaal Bowman Joins ‘Squad’ Members In Calling for CNN to Drop Scott Jennings Over Ilhan Omar Comment: ‘Disgustingly Racist’

Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) urged CNN to never let senior analyst Scott Jennings onto their airwaves again after commenting on Bowman’s fellow ‘Squad’ member Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

“Scott Jennings’ comments are disgustingly racist and Islamophobic. Comments like this, especially on national news, are extremely dangerous and fuel anti-muslim hate crimes,” Bowman wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday.

The reaction followed a number of other Democrats, including lawmakers, condemning Jennings referring to Omar as a “public relations agent for Hamas.” Omar has been one of the most vocal lawmakers in calling for a complete ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.

“CNN should never have him on again!” Bowman wrote about Jennings, a former George W. Bush official. “This hatred is unacceptable and cannot be normalized.”

Shortly after Jennings made his comments on air on Tuesday, Democrats like Reps. Cori Bush (D-MO), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) all blasted Jennings for his comments. The clip was posted online by Jeremy Slevin, a former staffer for Omar.

“How on earth is this kind of blatant Islamophobia so casually accepted without pushback? This is shocking,” Ocasio-Cortez posted to X at the time.

Omar has not directly commented, but she has shared messages of support, including calls for Jennings to be pulled from CNN, one of them being Bowman’s.
