Jasmine Crockett FLAMES Republicans in Hearing: ‘I Can’t Tell If Y’All Are for Anything Other than Obstruction and Cruelty’

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) questioned why MAGA Republicans appeared to be obstructing everything the Biden administration was trying to do to alleviate the crisis at the border.

Crockett gave an impassioned speech about what she called Republicans’ “obstruction and cruelty,” as the House Oversight Committee held a hearing titled, “The Biden Administration’s Regulatory and Policymaking Efforts to Undermine U.S. Immigration Law.”

“It’s clear President Biden has tried to give state and local governments, and nonprofits, federal resources to support temporary food, shelter, and other services,” Crockett began, continuing:

MAGA Republicans are refusing to give those cities and states those resources. President Biden has tried to put 1,300 more border patrol agents at the border to help, but Republicans have obstructed that request. Republicans want to cut the flow of fentanyl coming into the United States; President Biden has tried to give our agents 100 new cutting-edge inspection devices, and add 1,000 additional law enforcement personnel. Republicans obstructed that request.

“Honestly, I can’t tell if y’all are for anything other than obstruction and cruelty,” Crockett said.

The Republican-led House Oversight Committee released a lengthy statement following the hearing, that read, in part:

Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and Committee Republicans discussed how President Biden and his Administration’s radical policies and regulatory actions sparked the worst border crisis in American history. Immigration policy and law enforcement experts testified how the unilateral decisions by this Administration are fueling unprecedented illegal immigration and jeopardizing border security. Lawmakers concluded that the Biden Administration must prioritize returning to deterrent-focused policies to protect Americans and curtail the unprecedented flow of migrants, narcotics, and crime at the southern border.

Meanwhile, Senate leaders signaled “progress on border talks” ahead of a meeting with President Biden, the Wall Street Journal reported.

“We are closer than we have ever been” on a deal, The Journal quoted Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
