Jeanine Pirro Blames Democrats For McCarthy’s Ouster, Yells At Liberal Co-Host: ‘You Sunk Him!’

Jeanine Pirro blamed Democrats for Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) removal as speaker while giving them no credit for helping avert a government shutdown over the weekend.

McCarthy was ousted after Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) filed a motion to vacate the chair, which triggered a vote of the House to decide his fate. Gaetz and seven Republicans joined 208 Democrats to remove McCarthy. The ex-speaker agreed back in January to allow just one member to bring a motion to vacate as part of a deal that vaulted him into the speakership. The Florida lawmaker also alleged McCarthy breached several provisions of that deal. On Tuesday, the bill came due.

Gaetz seemed particularly displeased by the short-term spending bill that prevented a government shutdown – at least until mid-November. Many more Democrats supported it than Republicans.

On Wednesday’s edition of The Five on Fox News, Pirro told viewers that it was McCarthy who prevented a shutdown and Democrats who ousted him. While doing so, she mixed it up with co-host Jessica Tarlov.

PIRRO: The amazing part of this is that the Democrats – for weeks, Karine Jean-Pierre – “The Republicans are gonna shut down the government. Nobody’s gonna get a paycheck. We’re not gonna be able to pay bills, ordinary Americans. The horrible Republicans!”

Then what happens is you get Kevin McCarthy, who avoids the shutdown. He avoids the shutdown. He does whatever he’s gotta do to avoid it. And what do the Democrats do? They vote – all of them, in unison – to hang Kevin McCarthy.

TARLOV: We saved him.

PIRRO: No, you didn’t save him!

TARLOV: Really? On Saturday, we saved him.

PIRRO: You sunk him! You sunk Kevin McCarthy. Now stop it right now! The Democrats stick with each other. The Republicans are– shoot within the tent. And that is the problem.

Pirro went on to rant about crime and “Soros-funded” district attorneys before stating that Democrats are “reveling in the chaos and dysfunction of the Republican Party and they’re laughing their asses off and high-fiving each other.”

Moments later, in what was either a misspeak or a 180 from her previous position, Pirro, “And the Republicans decide, now it’s time. Let’s sink McCarthy. That’s baloney!”
