Kari Lake Election Lawyers Facing Sanctions In Arizona As Senate Candidate Claims Her 2022 Election Loss Was a ‘Coup’
Election lawyers for failed 2022 Republican candidate for governor of Arizona, Kari Lake continue to face disciplinary action over their efforts to overturn the result of Lake’s election.
AZ Central reported on Wednesday that Kurt Olsen, Bryan Blehm, and Andrew Parker were all order probable cause orders this week by the Attorney Discipline Probable Cause Committee to advance investigations into their conduct that would likely lead to some kind of public discipline.
“All three have previously been sanctioned by judges in Arizona related to Lake’s challenge of her November 2022 loss to Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs, or a case seeking to force a hand count of ballots last year. Those cases, and conduct leading to sanctions, were in large part the basis of the state bar’s investigations that have now advanced,” noted Stacey Barchenger who reported on the ongoing investigations.
Barchenger added that penalties for the lawyers could range from “a period on probation, reprimand or disbarment.” Lake’s election lawyers are under fire for allegedly making claims in court that they knew to be false – focused on a claim that “35,000 ballots were added to the count” for Hobbs’s win.
Lake, who is currently the leading GOP primary candidate for the U.S. Senate in Arizona, has not tempered her rhetoric on election denial that made her a favorite of Donald Trump last cycle.
This week Lake told a far-right outlet that “this is a war not being fought with bullets.”
“But there is a war that’s happening against our republic. And I mean, I think that’s a fair assessment. I think there was a coup when they stole our election in Arizona,” Lake continued, repeating her claim that her election was stolen, which has been debunked by several investigations and GOP-led audits.
“There was a coup and a takeover of our state government. The people, the people’s will was it was taken from them when they when they rigged an election and they installed people in our state government who were not duly elected. And this is why I continue to fight every day,” Lake concluded.
