Lauren Boebert Apologizes to ‘the Muslim Community’ After Video of Her Stunning Comments About Ilhan Omar Go Viral
Rep. Lauren Boebert tweeted an apology on Friday for comments made in a viral clip where she mocked Rep. Ilhan Omar as a potential terror threat. Omar is asking Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to take action against Boebert immediately.
The video of Boebert’s comment, which she delivered like she was doing a terrible stand-up routine, went viral on Thanksgiving weekend. In response, Rep. Omar responded by calling Boebert a “buffoon’ and a bigot, and demanded that House leadership take actions against her.
After the overnight blow-up, Boebert on Friday issued an apology in a tweet.
“I apologize to anyone in the Muslim community I offended with my comment about Rep. Omar,” said Boebert in the tweet. She also said she’s reached out to Rep. Omar’s office.
I apologize to anyone in the Muslim community I offended with my comment about Rep. Omar. I have reached out to her office to speak with her directly. There are plenty of policy differences to focus on without this unnecessary distraction.
