‘Like Nagasaki And Hiroshima!’ Republican Congressman Says To ‘Get It Over Quick’ in Gaza At Town Hall
Republican Rep. Tim Walberg called for the U.S. treat Gaza “like Nagasaki and Hiroshima” in shocking comments caught on video at a recent constituent event in Dundee, Michigan.
A viral video posted to YouTube and social media recorded by a Michigan activist showed the congressman making the pronouncement and insisting that the U.S. should not be spending a “dime” on humanitarian aid.
After being asked about spending in Gaza by a member of the audience at the event, characterized by some as a private town hall, Walberg said that we should not be spending money in Gaza, and any money sent to the region should go to support “our greatest ally, arguably, anywhere in the world.”
He also called for an end to humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
“We shouldn’t be spending a dime on humanitarian aid,” he said. “It – it should be like Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Get it over quick. The same – the same should be in Ukraine. Defeat Putin quick. Instead of 80 percent of our funding for Ukraine being used for humanitarian purposes.”
The clip was shared on YouTube as well as on TikTok and X, where it went viral.

The Michigan chapter of CAIR – Council on American-Islamic Relations – issued a statement on Saturday from Executive Director Dawud Walid condemning the comments:
“This clear call to genocide by a member of Congress should be condemned by all Americans who value human life and international law. To so casually call for what would result in the killing of every human being in Gaza sends the chilling message that Palestinian lives have no value. It is this dehumanization of the Palestinian people that has resulted in the ongoing slaughter and suffering we see every day in Gaza and the West Bank.”
The event appeared on Walberg’s congressional calendar, “Congressman Tim Walberg will be holding a community gathering to meet with constituents on Monday, March 25 in Dundee,” the calendar entry read.
Other clips from the meeting were also shared on YouTube and social media.
The transcript of the original clip:
WALBERG: I don’t see how you possibly could say that that isn’t putting our troops in harm’s way in Gaza, where we shouldn’t be. We should be resourcing Israel just like they want to, to kill Hamas on their own.”
AUDIENCE MEMBER: “Mr. Walberg? I asked that question. Uh, the reason I asked is cause I was with a – a gentleman that’s in the US Army – He’s a diver – yesterday, and he said he’s being deployed on April 1st to go into Gaza to build a pier, and they’re going to be protected by the IDF while they’re there. They’re there for a minimum of 90 days and deployed until the project is finished. Why are we spending our money to build a port for them?”
WALBERG: “Yeah. It’s Joe Biden’s reason: We need to get humanitarian aid into Gaza. I don’t think we should. I – I don’t think any of our aid that goes to Israel to support our greatest ally, arguably maybe in the world to defeat Hamas and Iran and Russia, and probably North Korea’s in there, and China too, with them in helping – helping – uh – uh, Hamas. Um, we shouldn’t be spending a dime on humanitarian aid. It – it should be like Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Get it over quick. The same – the same should be in Ukraine. Defeat Putin quick. Instead of 80 percent of our funding for Ukraine being used for humanitarian purposes. It should be 80 percent, a hundred percent to wipe out Russian forces, if that’s what we want to do.”
