Matt Gaetz Gets Brutally Roasted For Suggesting Israeli Arabs Can’t Vote: ‘Almost Attorney General’

Former Republican congressman turned cable news host, Matt Gaetz, was brutally roasted on Thursday for a post suggesting that the Arab population of Israel can’t vote.

Gaetz replied to an X user in the early hours of Thursday morning who attacked his recent One America News Network monologue on the Israel-Iran conflict. “Your inability to understand the difference between Israel a democratic ally of the US and the North Korea and Iran renders literally everything else you say meaningless. I understand you’re frustrated with your irrelevance since leaving politics in shame and need the click bate [sic], but this is moronic even for you,” wrote Yaron Samid.

Gaetz hit back at Samid writing, “If Israel is a Democracy when do all the Arabs who live there get to vote?”

Gaetz, who President Donald Trump appointed to be attorney general, but later backed out amid a cloud of controversy, was quickly criticized for the post – including by many Republicans.

Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) responded, “Israel is the only multi-ethnic, multi-religious, multi-racial democracy in the Middle East. Arab citizens of Israel not only vote in their elections, they in fact are members of the Knesset — including 11 current members.”

Conservative radio host Erick Erickson explained, “There are lots of Israeli citizens who are Arab and who vote. There have been Arabs in the Knesset since its very first meeting in 1949. There are also Christians in Israel who vote and have representation in the Knesset.”

While Lawler and Erickson used the moment as a teaching opportunity, many critics were far less kind in their replies to Gaetz.

Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) reacted by referring to some of Gaetz’s past scandals, “Former Congressman Matt Gaetz is something of an expert on the disenfranchised. He has a thing for those below voting age.”
