MSNBC Analyst Tells Vaughn Hillyard to Get a ‘Weather Jacket’ To Survive Trump’s ‘Blizzard of B.S.’ Pressers
MSNBC analyst Matthew Dowd joked he would chip in for an “MSNBC weather jacket” for colleague Vaughn Hillyard so he can survive Donald Trump’s “blizzard of b.s.” press conferences.
Trump spoke to reporters on Monday in New York following a five-judge panel ruling the former president can post a $175 million bond instead of the $464 million he was previously required to pay in his New York fraud case.
Dowd joined MSNBC’s Chris Jansing following Hillyard’s report on Trump’s press conference, and the analyst accused Trump of pushing multiple falsehoods, after he praised his colleague.
“Can we all chip in, Chris, and buy Vaughn a MSNBC weather jacket because the blizzard of b.s. he has to walk through every day, including today, it is yeoman work what he has to process and go through,” Dowd said. “Bravo to Vaughn for all the stuff he does and through this process of listening to this stuff from Donald Trump.”
Dowd criticized Trump for his claim that he may begin putting his own money into his presidential campaign. The former president told MSNBC reporter Garrett Haake it was “none of your business, frankly” when asked about the possibility.
“I’m glad you pointed out that he has no history of using his own money, not only for the campaign, but just evidence he won’t even use his own money to pay lawyers to defend him,” Dowd said.
The analyst predicted the trial stemming from a hush money payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels would likely be the most influential with voters. Trump received a trial start date of April 15 on Monday.
“The result of that trial to me is one of the few or only things that could really seriously adjust this race and how voters will react to an actual conviction versus an indictment, which so far indictments don’t seem to have changed many people’s minds,” Dowd said.
