‘Not A Matter Of Innocence Or Guilt’: Nikki Haley Tells Fox Town Hall She ‘Would Pardon Donald Trump’ If He’s Convicted Of Federal Crimes

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley vowed to pardon former President Donald Trump if she was elected to the White House.

During a Sunday town hall with Fox News anchor John Roberts in South Carolina, a voter asked Haley if she would pardon Trump if she beat President Joe Biden in the general election this November. Haley remains Trump’s only obstacle to taking the Republican nomination for a third consecutive time.

The former president faces four criminal indictments in four different jurisdictions over a variety of criminal charges, including for his handling of classified documents after leaving the White House and his efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

An undecided voter in the audience asked Haley if she would pardon Trump if he was convicted in a federal court, and she said that she would.

Haley said that, at that point, lit wouldn’t be “a matter of innocence or guilt” because he’d have already been convicted, but that she would pardon him “in the interest of bringing the country together.”

You know, if you’re talking about pardoning Trump, it’s not a matter of innocence or guilt at that point because that means he would have already been found guilty. I believe in the best interest of bringing the country together.

I would pardon Donald Trump because I think it’s important for the country to move on. We’ve got to leave the negativity and the baggage behind. I don’t want this country divided any further. I don’t think it’s in the best interest for America to have an 80-year-old president sitting in jail and having everybody upset about it.

I think this would be the time that we would need to move forward and get this out of the way.
