Pro-MAGA Reporter Asks Karoline Leavitt If FBI Is Looking at New Terror Designation ‘That Involves Trans Ideology’
A pro-MAGA reporter asked White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt if the administration was considering “a new class of domestic terrorism that involves trans ideology. ”
Leavitt on Thursday held a briefing the day after the Minneapolis mass shooting that claimed the lives of two children and injured more than a dozens others. Hours after the tragedy, the shooter was identified as 23-year-old Robin Westman, formerly Robert.
The identity of the shooter led to a wave of anti-trans attacks, which Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey strongly condemned during a Wednesday press conference.
“Anybody who is using this as an — using this as an opportunity to villainize our trans community,” the mayor said, “or any other community out there, has lost their sense of common humanity.”
During Tuesday’s briefing, Daily Wire reporter Mary Margaret Olohan asked if the administration was mulling over the possibility of tweaking its domestic terror designations in light of the shooting.
“I’ve seen a lot of calls for action, you know, among these lawmakers saying that we should be praying,” Olohan said. “One that I’ve seen on the right actually is calls for the FBI to institute a new class of domestic terrorism that involves trans ideology. Is that something that the administration would support?”
Leavitt declined to answer, saying that she “would have to check with the appropriate people on that.”
