State Dept. Spox Reads Out Trump’s Truth Social Threats of Putin In Hilariously Deadpan Fashion
Members of the press who attended Tuesday’s State Department briefing were treated to a deadpan reading of President Donald Trump’s threats to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Earlier that morning, Trump made a post on Truth Social claiming “lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia” if it weren’t for his intervention. He also claimed that Putin was “playing with fire.”
That post came two days after Trump said in another that Putin had “gone absolutely crazy” in response Russia’s latest attack on multiple Ukrainian cities.
During Tuesday’s briefing, spokesperson Tammy Bruce read out both posts while discussing the ongoing peace negotiations between the U.S. and the two European countries:
I will, for those who did not see the president’s statement indicating the extremity of his concern, from last night… “I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I’m not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot into cities in Ukraine for no reason whatsoever.” And that goes on, and that’s from his Truth Social account.
And this morning, he noted, “What Vladimir Putin does not realize is that if it weren’t for me, lots of really, really bad things would have already happened in Russia — and I mean really bad. He’s playing with fire.”
