The View’s Sunny Hostin Claims Alabama’s IVF Ruling All About Republicans Wanting ‘More American White Children’

The View co-host Sunny Hostin argued on Friday that the Alabama Supreme Court’s ruling on frozen embryos is an attempt to produce more white children.

The Alabama court ruled that frozen embryos can be considered “extrauterine children,” which has led to major questions about the implications such a law would have on vitro fertilization, or IVF. Since the ruling, clinics have been attempting to seek clarity on how they can go forward with their procedures under these new parameters for embryos.

According to Hostin, this is a roundabout way to produce more white kids.

“I actually think they do want you to have more children, and they’re just not saying the quiet part out loud,” she said.

Hostin cited a recent study from Collage Group, based on data from the American Community Survey, that declared multicultural Americans will be in the majority by 2050 and the white population will decline while the Hispanic population will grow by that time.

“Wouldn’t white women be getting the IVF?” a confused Joy Behar asked.

“Well, that’s why they want IVF, but they can’t say, yes, they’re — they’re coming out sort of against it and not being able to explain why. They want to have more American white children born because the birth rate has gone down,” Hostin said.

While she was arguing that the extra protections for embryos are a way to produce more white babies, Hostin claimed at the same time that the current ruling is a way to go after LGBTQ Americans who rely on the procedure to have children

Co-host Sara Haines argued there’s more ignorance than racism motivating the ruling.

“Until it affects them, they don’t care,” she said.

Haines argued the ruling was not based on science, and Hostin jumped back in to further muddy the waters of her position on the issue.

“50% of Americans believe that a human embryo is a baby,” she said. “I am one of those.”

Hostin noted she has two children, both from IVF.

“The embryo is an embryo until 10 weeks when it becomes a fetus. A fetus is not viable until it’s 24 weeks. If we’re going to use science, let’s use scientific terms,” Haines argued.

“An embryo is the beginning of human life,” Hostin said.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin joined her confused co-hosts at the table by asking how she could believe an embryo is a human life, but not be against abortion.

“I believe the government shouldn’t be involved in women’s reproductive health,” Hostin said.
