‘Trump is Not Welcome Here!’ Soccer Fan Goes Viral After MAGA Hat Gets Him Kicked Out of St. Louis Stadium

A video from a Major League Soccer match has over 4.5 million views on X and climbing, not for the sport but for what happened as a fan wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat filmed himself being kicked out of the stadium.

“Trump is not welcome in St. Louis City SC,” said the man, who identified himself as Michael Weitzel in the video filmed at Energizer Park in St. Louis City, home to the St. Louis City SC.

In the clip, Weitzel narrates as what appear to be stadium officials and security as well as local police speak to him, telling him he is being asked to leave and that if does not do so he could be escorted out “in handcuffs.”

Both the stadium and MLS have rules about political messages being displayed in the stadium.

Weitzel objected to his removal as being uniquely singled out, saying that fans in another part of the stadium were waving flags apparently of a political nature. One officer speaking to Weitzel, who identified himself as a Donald Trump voter in the clip, replied that those flags were “pre-approved.”

The viral post was shared by former American Conservative Union (ACU) executive director Gregg Keller of the Atlas Strategy Group, who posted the video on Saturday, though a few others shared the clip earlier with less success.

In his post, Keller wrote: “A man got kicked out of a @stlCITYsc game last night for wearing a MAGA hat. Security said they don’t allow political paraphernalia. Man then asked security what’s up with the constant pride flags and trans banners at the games. They didn’t like that either.”

Another post, from Ryan Fournier of Students for Trump, garnered almost a million views and nearly 10,000 retweets by Sunday evening. Another had 2.2 million.

Many others on the right weighed in.

Despite those large numbers, many of which in the video post or in replies tagged the St Louis City Soccer Club’s handle on X, neither the team, the stadium, nor Major Leagues Soccer had issued any comment at the time of this post.

Keller later claimed that the video “is now being looked at by the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.”
