Republican strategist and CNN commentator Scott Jennings on Sunday called on President Donald Trump to launch a military strike against Iran’s Fordo nuclear facility, arguing the move would secure peace and merit a Nobel Prize.
The statement came as tensions in the Middle East entered their fourth day, with Israel reportedly asking the US for assistance in finishing off Iran’s nuclear program.
According to The Times of Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently raised the possibility with Trump of a targeted U.S. strike on Fordo, an underground Iranian nuclear enrichment facility that Israel does not have the weapons to eliminate.
Jennings, who has been in Israel during the violence, cited an excerpt from the Times of Israel report on social media and strongly endorsed intervention from Trump, arguing it would be true to the president’s “America First” doctrine.
“My thoughts from Jerusalem: Israel is on the brink of remaking the Middle East and ending the biggest sponsor of radical Islamic terrorism in the world,” Jennings wrote Sunday morning on X. “Trump’s strategic part in this move was brilliant.”
Jennings added:
The Iranian terror regime has never been weaker (thank you, Israel). The chance to end them as a destabilizing force cannot be missed.
In my opinion, Trump would be justified in taking out the Fordo nuclear enrichment facility. It would be a righteous decision. And if he does it, no question in my mind that he would deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.
This is a once-in-a-generation chance to make the world safer and defend Western Civilization.
Bomb Fordo. Destroy the Iranian Octopus. Restore deterrence. Win the Nobel. #AmericaFirst
Fordo, which was built into a mountain to protect against attacks, is one of Iran’s most fortified nuclear sites.
The Times of Israel reported that Trump recently told Netanyahu the US “would consider striking Iran’s underground Fordo nuclear facility if such a move would become necessary to prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.”
