Former President Donald Trump’s campaign managers declared him the “clear winner” in his debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, despite a number of controversial moments — and the fact that the debate had not yet ended when they issued the statement.

Trump and Harris met up in Philadelphia Tuesday evening for a debate moderated by ABC News’s David Muir and Linsey Davis. The ex-president made a number of unfounded and untrue claims and rants, including that Democrats support post-birth abortion and pet-eating migrants and were at fault for the assassination attempt. He also claimed that President Joe Biden “hates” Harris and “can’t stand her,” backtracked on his confession he lost the 2020 election, and got a lot of criticism throughout the debate even from the right.

The Drudge Report bluntly declared Trump’s debate performance to be “THE END” for him.

Trump’s campaign managers, Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, issued a statement that was tweeted by Real Clear Politics reporter Philip Wegmann at 10:33 pm ET, about ten minutes before the candidates even began their closing statements.

The full text of the statement:

“President Trump delivered a masterful debate performance tonight, prosecuting Kamala Harris’ abysmal record of failure that has hurt Americans for the last 4 years.

“We saw President Trump lay out his bold vision of America and how he would continue to build upon the successes of his first term by supercharging the economy, securing the border, and stopping crime
from ravaging communities across the country.

“Conversely, Kamala’s vision of America was a dark reminder of the oppressive, big government policies of Joe Biden that she wants to continue. High inflation, a porous border that allows criminals and terrorists to flood across, and being soft on crime — that is what Kamala represents.

“The choice could not be more clear — President Trump was the clear winner tonight, and he will win
for America when he returns to the White House.”
