Trump Cites Winston Churchill While Touting His Own Oratory Skills – Then Complains Media Will Say He Was Comparing Himself to Churchill

Former President Donald Trump brought up some of history’s greatest speakers, like World War II British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, as part of his bragging about/complaining about lack of praise for his own oratory skills on Sunday. He then quickly complained in advance the media would use it against him.

During a rally in Arizona on Sunday, the GOP nominee bragged about his speaking abilities to his crowd of supporters. He claimed that his large rally crowd sizes can be credited to his ability to entertain them.

Trump then claimed he and Churchill share similar oratory skills before walking back his statement.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a story that Trump is a great speaker. I hear about great speakers like Churchill. I hear about a lot of good stuff, but I’ve never heard that Trump is a great — ah oh I’m in trouble because you know what they’re going to do. He’s comparing himself to Winston Churchill. No, that’s what they’ll do, Andy, Right. That’s what they’ll do. They’ll say, he’s comparing himself he was angry about. No, no, I’ve never had a story that I’m — And there’s a reason these crowds are coming.
