Trump Fawns Over ‘Great Leader’ Viktor Orbán on Social Media After Feting Hungarian Autocrat at Mar-a-Lago

Former President Donald Trump continued to heap praise on Viktor Orbán on social media Saturday after he and Melania hosted a lavish party celebrating the Hungarian autocrat.
Trump posted to Truth Social:
It was an honor having Viktor Orbán and his lovely daughter, Flóra, as my guests last night at Mar-a-Lago. Viktor is a Great Leader, respected all over the World. Hungary is a Safe Country because of his Strong Immigration Policies, and as long as he is in charge, it always will be!
Orbán has been Prime Minister of Hungary for the past 14 years.
During that time, Orbán changed the country’s constitution multiple times, and “has faced international criticism over democratic standards, media freedom and minority rights,” Reuters reported.
Trump has a well-known fondness for dictators, having lauded the likes of North Korea’s Kim Jon Un, Russia’s Vladimir Putin, Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and China’s Xi Jinping.
Orbán posted a video montage of the Mar-a-Lago extravaganza to X (formerly Twitter).
On the video, set to the music “Got to Get You into My Life” by The Beatles, Orbán is escorted into the ballroom by Melania Trump and the former president. The video also highlighted Trump’s flattering words delivered from the stage:
There’s nobody that’s better, smarter, or a better leader than Viktor Orbán. He’s fantastic. As you know, he’s the Prime Minister of Hungary and does a great job. He’s a non-controversial figure because he said, “This is the way it’s going to be” and that’s the end of it, right? He’s the boss.
And he’s a great leader. A fantastic leader in Europe. And all over the world — they respect him. It’s an honour to have you with us, Viktor. Very great honour. Thank you.
Orbán posted, “Thank you for the invitation and the kind words, President @realDonaldTrump!

While speaking at a Pennsylvania campaign stop Friday, President Joe Biden said, “You know who (Trump’s) meeting with today in Mar-a-Lago? Orbán of Hungary who stated flatly he doesn’t think democracy works, he’s looking for dictatorship.”
