The beef between Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) and legally-troubled Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) shows no signs of stopping, at least until the is no longer a member of the U.S. Senate — and that’s what Fetterman intends to accomplish with an upcoming Senate resolution.
Fetterman, who has made no secret that he wants to see the embattled New Jersey Democrat kicked out of the Senate since he was indicted on federal bribery charges, told CNN’s chief congressional correspondent Manu Raju that he was planning to take action against Menendez, saying, “We should have chucked that sleazeball long ago.”
In a post to Twitter/X, Raju wrote that Fetterman told him “he plans to go to floor next week to force a vote on his resolution that would bar senators indicted on national security issues from attending classified briefings — aimed at Bob Menendez. Fetterman has been outspoken about Menendez’s ongoing presence in the Senate while the House expelled former Rep. George Santos (R-NY) following his indictments on various charges including fraud. (Santos has pleaded not guilty to all of them.) Fetterman has even said Menendez’s alleged crimes were “more sinister” than Santos’, telling the hosts of ABC’s The View in December, “I really think he needs to go.”
Menendez has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.
