Tucker Carlson Rips NYT Defense of ‘Angry Bigot’ Sarah Jeong: ‘It’s All So Ugly and Awful’
Fox News’ Tucker Carlson bashed The New York Times during a monologue Thursday, outraged over its defense of new editorial board hire Sarah Jeong, whose anti-white tweets stirred up controversy this week.
“Judging by what she wrote on Twitter, Sarah Jeong is an angry bigot and not in a subtle way,” Carlson said, referring to her posts which date back as far as 2013, some railing against “dumb old white men” and “dumbass f****** white people marking up the internet with their opinions like dogs pissing on fire hydrants.”
“People are getting fired for far less than this across corporate America right now,” Carlson noted, frustrated by the Times‘ response to her tweets, which he interpreted as an excuse of her behavior.
“In other words, it’s not her fault,” he said of the publication’s statement which said her posts were a prompted by harassment. “White racism caused Sarah Jeong’s racism against white people. She is the victim here. Harvard graduate, oppressed person that she is.”
However, Carlson didn’t buy that response, calling Jeong’s remarks “so ugly and awful.”
“You’d think somewhere on the left the last responsible person would be cringing at all of this,” he said.
The Fox News host then took aim at HuffPo Editor-in-Chief Lydia Polgreen for defending Jeong, saying she was “widely regarded by her peers as a moron.”
But Carlson told his viewers he has no desire seeing Jeong ousted from her new position, asserting that only liberals would “believe that every person we disagree with ought to be crushed.”
“We believe in free speech even when it’s reprehensible, maybe especially when it is,” he concluded.
