‘Mad Dog’ Russo Admits He’s Sick of Talking About Cowboys QB Dak Prescott on First Take: ‘Who Cares!’
Chris “Mad Dog” Russo admitted that he’s grown tired of talking about Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, and he’s made that known to producers.
Russo appeared on The Dan Patrick Show on Thursday when he talked about her experience on both television and radio. Although Russo said he’s ultimately not in control of the show’s format and does what he’s asked, Patrick asked him if he’s ever told the showrunners how fed up he was with a certain topic.
“Oh God, yeah,” Russo responded. “I’ll give you a topic that I think we overdo. How many times can I talk about Dak Prescott’s contract? Whether they pay him $55 million or $65 [million], who cares for crying out loud? I mean, let’s watch the games!
Though Russo expressed how frustrated he sometimes gets with the topics, he acknowledged that he often uses those First Take topics on his radio show Mad Dog Unleashed during the summer months. Around this time of year, he explained, worthwhile content can be hard to find.
“And those are topics that we don’t normally do on a [daily] basis,” Russo continued, “but I’ll tell you, Dan, something that’s interesting, especially this time of year — and you know how hard it is to do sports talk necessarily this time of the year. A lot of times, I’ll use what I did in the morning, on the Tuesdays or the Wednesdays, and I’ll use that for the content to fill 15 minutes.”
