WATCH: Spectacular Record Breaking Buzzer-Beater Completes Wildest Finish in NBA History

The New Orleans Pelicans and Oklahoma City Thunder showcased the unpredictable beauty of sports Wednesday night, as two of the NBA’s worst teams gave basketball fans arguably the best finish in league history.

Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander drained an off-balance 30-footer to tie the score at 110, leaving 1.4 seconds on the clock and almost certainly sending the game to overtime. But Pelicans’ point guard Devonte Graham was ready to end it in regulation.

With no timeouts left, New Orleans inbounded the ball to Graham, who heaved a prayer near the three-point arc at the opposite end of the floor. Miraculously, the shot banked in, shocking Oklahoma City and the home fans who were expecting an overtime period. The absurd shot made history, as the longest recorded game-winning buzzer-beater ever in the NBA.

Graham’s three banked in from 61-feet away, topping Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf’s 55-footer for the Denver Nuggets in the 1992-93 season.

New Orleans improved to 9-21 on the season thanks to Graham’s historical buzzer beater, while the Thunder fell to 8-19. A marginal matchup between two rebuilding teams gave sports fans an unbelievable regular season highlight.
