WATCH: NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern Speaks on Christchurch Shootings: ‘One of New Zealand’s Darkest Days’

“There are multiple scenes,” said Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern speaking to her nation a short time ago about the shootings that took place in at least two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand on Friday morning NZ time.

The Prime Minister confirmed that at least one person is in custody, and confirmed that two Mosques were attacked in the mass shooting incident.

She said that she could not give out the number of casualties and fatalities or other specific details. “What I can say is that it is clear that this is one of New Zealand’s darkest days,” she said.

The Prime Minister called it “an extraordinary and unprecedented act of violence.”

Ardern also suggested that many of the victims “may be migrants to New Zealand, they may even be refugees here.”

“They have chosen to make New Zealand their home, and it is their home. They are us,” she said. “The person who has perpetuated this violence against us is not. They have no place in New Zealand.”

The Prime Minister is meeting with officials in Wellington about the incident, which is a clearly major incident and mass shooting.
