Trump Appoints ‘Alina Habba, Esq.’ to Top DOJ Job: ‘She Will Fight Tirelessly’

President Donald Trump announced he was appointing his personal lawyer, Alina Habba, as U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey in a Monday morning social media post.
Trump said Habba would replace John Giordano in the role ,and congratulated Giordano on his appointment as U.S. ambassador to Namibia.
The president posted:
It is with great pleasure that I am announcing Alina Habba, Esq., who is currently serving as Counselor to the President, and has represented me for a long time, will be our interim U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, her Home State, effective immediately!
Alina will lead with the same diligence and conviction that has defined her career, and she will fight tirelessly to secure a Legal System that is both “Fair and Just” for the wonderful people of New Jersey.
Additionally, John Giordano, who has done a terrific job as the interim U.S. Attorney in New Jersey, will now be nominated as the new Ambassador to Namibia!

Habba was quick to thank Trump for the appointment. In a post on her X page, she shared a screenshot of Trump’s announcement and commented, “Time to make New Jersey great again! LET’S ROLL.”
Giordano only served in his role at the DOJ for three weeks after being appointed by Attorney General Pam Bondi on March 3.
In her new role, Habba will be “responsible for overseeing all federal criminal prosecutions and the litigation of all civil matters in New Jersey in which the federal government has an interest. Including the offices in Newark, Camden, and Trenton, Mr. Giordano supervises a staff of approximately 153 federal prosecutors and approximately 104 support personnel.”
