In his first social media posts following his dramatic storming out of the courtroom of his defamation trial, former President Donald Trump lashed out at Judge Lewis Kaplan, who is presiding over the second defamation trial following the sexual assault finding of E Jean Carroll.
News broke that Trump stormed out of the court at roughly 10 AM. Just 90 minutes later, Trump took to social media to rage aginst Carroll, then eventually turned his bile towards the judge, saying on Truth Social:
Judge Kaplan refuses to allow the Anderson Cooper Interview on CNN of E. Jean Carroll wherein Carroll says, “Rape is sexy,” and numerous other things that totally exonerate me. Judge Kaplan is refusing me my Constitutional Right to Due Process, to defend myself against this False Accusation. This is a one-sided trial, where the other side is allowed everything, and we are allowed nothing. He is an extremely abusive individual, the likes of which few have seen before!
During Friday’s proceedings, the judge chided Trump’s attorney, Alina Habba, for trying to present slides without having presented them as evidence to the court beforehand. Any layperson who’s watched a handful of episodes of Law and Order knows that entering evidence before presenting in trial is academic. And yet? Habba appears to have missed that part of the law school curriculum.
Trump was found liable for sexual assault and defamation in May of 2023, but he has continued to besmirch Carroll’s reputation, repeatedly calling her a “liar” and a “crazy” person. This trial is for another defamation reward to the tune of at least $12 million, which Carroll’s attorneys are reportedly seeking in an attempt to keep Trump from continuing to defame their client.
