Watch: Kamala Harris Demands AG Barr Be Hauled Before Congress Over Mueller Report
Democratic presidential candidate and California Senator Kamala Harris derided Attorney General William Barr‘s summary of Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s report, and demanded that Barr appear to testify before Congress over the matter.
During a rally at Atlanta’s Morehouse College on Sunday, Harris took a few seconds to weigh in on the issue.
“Let’s speak truth on some of the current topics of the day,” Harris said. “Let’s speak truth that the American public deserves transparency and accountability, and the Mueller report must be made public for a full accounting.”
“And the attorney general of the United States must be required to come and testify before Congress, instead of just submitting a four-page memo of what happened,” Harris added.
Other 2020 Democrats weighed in Sunday as well, many of whom similarly demanded the release of the entire report, and knocked Barr’s summary. Some also demanded testimony from Mueller.
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) appears to have gotten the jump on the competition, tweeting out her reaction minutes after the news broke.
Congress voted 420-0 to release the full Mueller report. Not a “summary” from his handpicked Attorney General. AG Barr, make the full report public. Immediately.

Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) had a similar reaction:
The American public deserves the full report and findings from the Mueller investigation immediately—not just the in-house summary from a Trump Administration official. https://t.co/8Lj0O881Cw

Here’s the reaction from Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY):
The Mueller report must be made public. Not just a letter from someone appointed by Trump to protect himself—all of it. The President works for the people, and he is not above the law. https://t.co/XH5NqzLJAb

Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) tweeted a brief video message demanding the Mueller report be made public:
Out in front of the Robert F. Kennedy Department of Justice Building. Justice must be done and the entire Mueller report should be made public. pic.twitter.com/aVD1xu0Znd

Independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders demanded “the whole damn report,” presumably not delivered to his lawn:
I don’t want a summary of the Mueller report. I want the whole damn report. https://t.co/VU1oNfBMK0

Former HUD Secretary Julian Castro threw in a demand for Mueller to testify:
A politically appointed Attorney General shouldn’t decide how much of the Special Counsel report Congress can read. The full report should be released and Robert Mueller should testify to its findings. https://t.co/4rNtqD19ko

Beto O’Rourke was brief:
Release the full Mueller report to the American people and their representatives. There must be transparency and accountability.

Former Congressman John Delaney posted a series of tweets like this:
Obstruction was obviously a
“close call” – another reasons we need to see the report.— John Delaney (@JohnDelaney) March 24, 2019
It’s worth noting that Harris did not mention Trump in her speech, and only two of the tweets from other candidates invoked him.
