Abby Huntsman Decries Trump’s Media ‘Hit List’: Should We Block Kellyanne From Saying ‘Alternative Facts’?
Donald Trump‘s latest attacks on the press drew a strong rebuke from conservative The View co-host Abby Huntsman, who called out several Trump-world figures over their own relationships with “alternative facts.”
On Tuesday’s edition of ABC’s The View, host Whoopi Goldberg introduced a segment by slamming the Trump campaign memo to TV producers identifying which guests they should not book, as well as Trump’s most recent “enemy of the people” attack on the press.
Goldberg said that an “enemies list” like the Trump campaign memo is “out of the fascists’ playbook,” and that “You want to be careful naming people the enemy of the people.”
Huntsman then asked, “Should we block White House folks that come on show and say alternative facts?” — A reference to White House counselor Kellyanne Conway‘s infamous rebranding of provable falsehoods.
“Or, according to Rudy Giuliani, truth isn’t truth,” Huntsman added, a reference to yet another jaw-dropping quote that Chuck Todd drew out of a Trump associate.
“The White House is not in the position to tell the media what to do,” she continued. “There’s always been this checks and balance system that I love in this country. This is a moment for the president to bring this country together.”
Huntsman noted that instead of moving past the Mueller investigation, Trump is “doubl(ing) down politically,” and that “it’s a dangerous place to be when you’re attacking the media that way.”
Co-host Joy Behar then listed some of the reasons people might have thought there was collusion going on, and slammed Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for blocking a measure that would call for the release of the full Mueller report.
