Bernie Sanders: Threshold for Third Party Candidates to Get in Debate Is ‘Too High’
Bernie Sanders thinks the threshold for third-party candidates to be able to get on the debate stage with Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump is too high.
Gary Johnson and Jill Stein––the latter of whom is making direct appeals to Sanders supporters––do not meet the 15 percent threshold and will likely not be in the debates. Though with current polling trends, Johnson would have a better chance than Stein.
Sanders affirmed again on Meet the Press that this election is a binary choice and Clinton is the far superior choice.
Todd asked if Johnson should be in the debates.
Sanders said there should be a threshold to meet, but 15 percent is “too high.”
