Bill Maher Updates Trump ‘Dictator Checklist’ Again Over Whitaker: Putting ‘Personal Protector’ at DOJ
Bill Maher last night updated his “dictator checklist” for President Donald Trump after the appointment of Matt Whitaker to acting Attorney General this week.
His show-closing new rule was all about how Trump is the “Santa Claus of chaos” freaking everyone out on a daily basis to the point where we all dread whatever the news is when we wake up.
Maher has described the Trump phenomenon as a “slow-moving coup” before, but after the ousting of Jeff Sessions and the announcement of Whitaker as acting AG, he said it’s “started moving a little faster.”
“In third-world dictatorships, the chief law enforcement officer’s main qualification is he doesn’t enforce the law,” he said. “Officials of independent mind are hounded out or shoved aside. This isn’t a Cabinet anymore, it’s the queen’s corgis.”
Maher added to the checklist “install your personal protector as head of the Justice Department,” while arguing Trump did the same by getting Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court.
And as Maher went down the rest of the checklist, he even swiped at Sean Hannity and Jeanine Pirro for the “state TV” hosts openly endorsing “the leader.”
