Chuck Schumer Decries Omissions in Senate 1/6 Report: ‘Assiduously Avoided’ Trump
The Senate released a bipartisan report detailing serious security and intelligence failures leading up to the riots at the Capitol on January 6th.
The report is not comprehensive and does not look at former President Donald Trump’s actions that day. A proposed 1/6 commission was passed with both Democratic and Republican support in the House, but Republicans killed it in the Senate.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer praised the report Tuesday but also criticized the omissions.
“They almost assiduously avoided the words, two words, that are vital to finding out what happened on January 6th: Donald Trump,” he said. “The Republicans reportedly didn’t want any mention of him at all.”
Schumer even added, “I think we should find out if other members of Congress participated in this as well.”
Some House Democrats want Schumer to bring another floor vote on the 1/6 commission.
