Chuck Todd on Trump’s ‘Both Sides’ Comments: ‘Gave Me the Wrong Kind of Chills’
In the aftermath of President Donald Trump’s off-the-rails press conference where he blamed “both sides” for the violence in Charlottesville and came to the defense of the alt-right, MSNBC’s Chuck Todd began his program this afternoon by expressing complete shock. And let it be known that he has a sense of severe unease over the president’s comments.
“Folks, what I just saw gave me the wrong kind of chills,” Todd noted. “Obviously, I’m a bit shaken from what I just heard. And I suspect it’s not just me.”
The MSNBC host added that “the President of the United States painted white nationalists and members of the alt-right as victims” of the alt-left.
“It was a chilling mix of whataboutism, false equivalence and a total muddying of the waters,” Todd further noted.
After recapping all of the craziest moments from the presser, Todd then readied the audience for what was to come over the next few days.
“Folks, buckle up,” Todd stated. “Because the fallout from these remarks today are going to be truly massive.”
