CNN’s Alisyn Camerota Rips Hannity Campaigning for Trump: ‘Who Does He Think He’s Fooling?’
Fox News host Sean Hannity joined President Donald Trump on stage during the ultimate pre-midterm campaign rally Monday night at Cape Girardeau, Missouri. In doing so, he opened himself up to a raft of reasonable criticism about the role that he plays in the Trump administration as well as serious questions about Fox News place as a propaganda arm for the White House.
CNN’s Alisyn Camerota, herself a former Fox News colleague of Hannity’s, raised her eyebrows both literally and metaphorically at Hannity’s campaign behavior.
Hannity had explained his on-stage appearance claiming he had no idea he was going to be invited up to the podium. That explanation, however, was derided by Camerota.
“Who does he think he’s fooling? Who does he think he’s fooling by saying he had no idea he was going to be invited up there?” She followed by questioning Fox News strange role in this. “And here’s what’s going on at Fox? They know vaguely that they’re not supposed to have one of their hosts endorse a candidate or a party, but Sean Hannity can’t help himself. ”
Camerota finished: “The whole, ‘Oh, shucks, me? You want me to go up here?’ After he had originally said, I believe, that he was going to be involved in the campaign, they are having a schizophrenic moment trying to figure out what their role is supposed to be with the Trump presidency.”
Previously this morning MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough dinged Hannity for not “owning” that he would be campaigning for Trump and suggested he was spreading the “big lie.”
