CNN’s Jim Acosta Throws Sarah Sanders’ Infamous Tweet About Attacking the FBI Back at Her

At today’s White House press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was confronted with a November 2016 tweet she sent that has, shall we say, aged poorly.

With the president having ripped into former FBI Director James Comey as an “unfaithful slime ball” in a series of tweets this morning and Sanders herself having already trashed the ex-FBI chief as a “disgraced partisan hack” earlier in the briefing, CNN’s Jim Acosta brought up her old tweet. That tweet, sent days before Election Day, took aim at Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton for complaining about Comey reopening the investigation into her email server.

“You’ve probably seen this tweet – it was a tweet you sent before the election in 2016,” Acosta said. “‘When you’re attacking FBI agents because you’re under criminal investigation, you’re losing.’ What do you make of that now?”

“The rank and file FBI are some of the greatest people in this country,” Sanders responded. “We repeated that time and time again. And certainly have the full support of this administration. I think that we’ve been very clear, though, how we feel about some of the leadership at the FBI. Particularly James Comey.”

And with that, she immediately moved on, waving off Acosta’s followup as she let him know that she’d already given him two questions.
