On CNN’s Inside Politics today, John King and the panel went off on President Trump for not only telling falsehoods, but for getting seriously rebuked for some of those falsehoods.
King just asked, “Is basic truth telling too much to ask?”
He brought up the President’s claim the Boy Scouts called him to say his speech was the “greatest” ever made to him and how the Boy Scouts had to refute that, followed by how Mexico had to refute the President’s claim President Enrique Peña Nieto called him to give him some credit on his immigration policies.
For King and the panel, Trump making things up wasn’t breaking news. But King said this raises serious “credibility questions” about the White House, combined with the changing statements on whether the President was involved at all with Don Jr.’s statement on his meeting with the Russian lawyer.
“I’m waiting,” King added, “for my children to tell me, ‘It’s okay that I fib, daddy, the president does it all the time.'”
