Daily Show’s Aasif Mandvi: ‘Angry Jews’ Just Saved The NY Times

As we learned during the opening segment of last night’s Daily Show, Jon Stewart was not a huge fan of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to Congress. But then correspondent Aasif Mandvi uncovered the silver lining: It may have single-handedly saved the print media industry.
“What a great day for traditional media,” Mandvi said of ads like the one in The New York Times that accused National Security Adviser Susan Rice of turning a blind eye to genocide. He gave credit to “angry Jews” for breathing new life into print advertising, which has been on the decline for years.
While the debate started with just two full-page ads, Mandvi explained that “like all conflicts involving Israel, this fight has spilled out to occupy all available space in the area.” He then showed some examples of how it appeared through the rest of the New York Times:
