Eric Bolling and Chris Sununu Trade Insults, Accuse Each Other of ‘Acting Like a High Schooler’ During Heated Argument
An argument between Newsmax host Eric Bolling and New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu became heated on Tuesday as the two men traded insults and accused each other of acting like a high schooler.
After Bolling asked Sununu whether he had changed his mind about supporting Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley after she came third in the Iowa caucus, Sununu replied, “God no. Are you kidding?”
He claimed, “She’s galvanizing support from Trump supporters, from DeSantis supporters, everyone’s getting on board. So the momentum is very, very real here in New Hampshire.”
Bolling responded, “Governor, I’m gonna push back on you; I don’t know what the heck you’re talking about. She got smoked last night. She ended up in third place, she barely got 20%,” adding that he had “never seen someone so happy to come in third place before.”
The Newsmax host continued:
Governor, listen. Your father, a friend, I knew him, worked with Bush. It’s a different time though, Governor. It’s not your father’s Republican Party anymore. This is a populist party. Trump is proving this is a populist party. No offense, you guys, you old-school establishment Republicans: Christie, you – friends of mine, Christie’s a friend of mine – Nikki Haley, your time’s passed.
After Bolling rejected Sununu’s claim that Republican losses in 2018, 2020, and 2022 were Trump’s fault, Sununu questioned, “You want to try to make excuses that Trump wasn’t a big part of our losses there? Buddy, I just wanna win. I’m tired of losing, I’m tired of losers.”
“Show me where you won with the establishment, old-school Republican,” said Bolling, to which Sununu shot back, “You’re using terms that high schoolers use. I mean, the ‘RINO’ and ‘establishment’, it’s not about that.”
As Sununu started to repeat Haley’s talking point that the Republican primary was now a “one-on-one race,” Bolling interrupted, “Hold on. Wait, wait, wait, wait. One-on-one race? She lost! DeSantis beat her! So it’s one-on-one DeSantis-Trump?”
“DeSantis?” mocked Sununu. “DeSantis has no money, no ground game, no ads, no people.”
“He beat her!” Bolling declared, to which Sununu replied, “That’s yesterday’s news, man! You’re talking about yesterday’s news.”
As the argument continued to get more and more heated, Sununu snapped, “Do you know anything about races? Do you know anything politics? Foolish. You sound foolish, man, come on.”
Bolling, visibly angry at Sununu’s remark, snapped back:
I’m foolish? How’s this, I was around doing politics when you were in grammar school, okay? I watched your father work with Bush, I know politics. Please don’t be insulting, alright? You wanna talk about high school, you’re acting like a high schooler, Governor Sununu. Stop it!
Moments later, Bolling declared, “This is going nowhere.”
