Fox News’ Howard Kurtz: It Seems That Anti-Trump Journalists Are ‘Almost Rooting For a Bad Economy’
Fox News media analyst Howard Kurtz criticized the media over their recent coverage of President Donald Trump and his supporters.
Laura Ingraham began by showing clips of presidential historical Jon Meacham and MSNBC’s Chuck Todd comparing Trump and his hostile rhetoric towards the media to Joseph Stalin.
“I guess the Hitler thing wasn’t pulling well, so they brought in Joseph Stalin” Kurtz reacted.
While Kurtz also believed Trump shouldn’t refer to the “fake news” as the “enemy of the people,” he thought the coverage it has gotten is “so stunningly one-sided.”
“When journalists and commentators use the Stalin analogy, when they call President Trump ‘unhinged,’ ‘mentally unfit,’ ‘undermining world peace,’ ‘danger to western civilization,’ they are lowering the discourse in precisely the way they accuse the president, who they detest,” Kurtz told Ingraham.
The Fox News host then showed clips of MSNBC personalities downplaying the latest economic numbers that overwhelming favor the president as well as Morning Joe host Mika Brzezinski warning her viewers about Trump’s supposed deteriorating mental health.
“I understand pundits going after President Trump on immigration or Putin, but when the economic news is clearly very good for almost everyone… and then you’re trying to argue that the skies are dark, that seems to me to be journalists almost rooting for a bad economy,” Kurtz continued. “And the worst thing, the most appalling thing here Laura is when some of these journalists and commentators go after Trump voters. ‘They’re yahoos,’ ‘they’re idiots’… I mean, that kind of hatred, they are smearing the 63 million Americans for the sin of voting for Trump. That is even worse in my view than going after the president.”
