Fox News Liberal Gushes Over Trump’s ‘Remarkable’ Victory Speech: ‘He Understands What It Means to Be a Presidential Candidate’

Fox News co-host and former Democratic congressman Harold Ford Jr. offered nothing but praise for the victory speech given by former President Donald Trump in Iowa on Monday night.

Trump handily defeated his rivals, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley. After the race was called, Trump addressed supporters in Iowa in which he called his recently widowed father-in-law “a lonely man,” the recently widowed Jimmy Carter “a happy man,” and falsely claimed he won the Iowa caucuses for a third time.

“His speech after winning, I thought, was remarkable for him,” Ford said on Tuesday’s edition of The Five. “But as someone who loves the serious business of politics and watching politicians try to perform and perform at their best, I thought him talking in a cordial, collegial, and conciliatory way to his opponents – particularly after he had won a majority of the vote – I thought was a clear sign that he understands web means to be a presidential candidate and what it’s gonna mean to bring the party together, perhaps even bring independents his way.”

Ford turned his attention to DeSantis.

“DeSantis had no magnanimous nature to his speech,” he continued. “I thought he should’ve been more magnanimous. He never congratulated President Trump, nor did he congratulate Ms. Haley, nor did he thank a volunteer. Trump went on to thank every volunteer. In fact, he brought a guy on stage that was dressed as a wall in the front row to say ‘thank you’ to him.”

Ford concluded his remarks by saying, “Without question, this was a tremendous night for former President Trump.”
