‘I’m Concerned’: Sunny Hostin Alarmed at Polls Showing Biden ‘Worse Off’ Than Obama and Clinton at This Point in Their Presidencies

The View co-host Sunny Hostin expressed concern on Monday over President Joe Biden faring “worse off” against former President Donald Trump than he did in 2020.

During a discussion about the 2024 election, former Trump White House Director of Strategic Communications Alyssa Farah Griffin criticized the Biden campaign for dismissing concerns about the economy and inflation.

“He did an interview with Erin Burnett and he said, ‘Actually, you’re better off than you think you are.’ That’s a bad message when people’s grocery prices are up by 30%,” said Griffin. “You’re saying, ‘Believe me rather than what your bank account is telling you.’ He’s got six months to come up with an inspiring, forward-looking message and get out there and talk about it.”

Griffin added that it was important for her media colleagues to “engage Trump voters” and “talk about what a second [Trump] term could look like and how dangerous it is.”

She argued, “I think that’s how we need to be using our voices and the campaign, the Biden campaign just has to get more active.”

“I’m concerned like Alyssa is,” replied Hostin. “You know, when you look at these stats, it’s very clear that Biden is actually worse off now six months from the election than Obama was and when Bill Clinton was. They had disapproval ratings that were pretty high, but his are even lower, right? So that concerns me.”

Hostin concluded, “I also agree it’s up to the American people, it’s not up to the polls, and we are six months away.”

According to several polls published on Monday, Biden is trailing Trump by several points in five battleground states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.

Biden currently has the lowest approval rating (42%) of any president one term into their presidency for the last twenty years.

Former presidents Trump, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush all had higher approval ratings at the same point in their presidencies. Trump’s approval rating was 4% higher than Biden’s before he went on to lose the 2020 election.
