Jake Tapper Goes Off On ‘Nitwit’ Aaron Rodgers for ‘Wildly Irresponsible and Not Funny’ Smearing of Jimmy Kimmel

CNN’s Jake Tapper ripped into Aaron Rodgers for claiming without evidence that Jimmy Kimmel had ties with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Rodgers went after Kimmel on The Pat McAfee Show earlier this week by insinuating that the ABC late night host would be on the newly-unsealed list of Epstein’s associates. Kimmel threatened to sue the New York Jets quarterback over the smear, and McAfee has apologized for his part in the blow-up.

Tapper, a friend of Kimmel’s, tackled the feud on Wednesday by slamming Rodgers over his “false, defamatory, wildly irresponsible and not funny” comments.

“This is child sex trafficking we’re talking about!” Tapper emphasized. “That’s not funny!”

Tapper spoke about this further with Deadspin’s Julie DiCaro, who suggested Rodgers might be “bored” since his Achilles injury has taken him out of the season, so now he’s preoccupying himself by picking fights with Travis Kelce and others. Tapper pointed out that Disney owns ABC and ESPN, so he wondered how long the company would tolerate Rodgers’ antics, and “What obligation does ESPN have to shut down this type of speculation?”

“Why is Disney even allowing this to happen?” Tapper asked. As he and DiCaro speculated on how Disney will handle the drama, the CNN host said the question for CEO Bob Iger is, “Does he allow ESPN and this nitwit…to continue to have this forum even when they are smearing who is working for ABC for more than 20 years now.”
