The Dong Goodbye: Jon Stewart Claims Anthony Weiner Lost NY-9 To The GOP

Daily Show host Jon Stewart devoted some time to the special election held in Anthony Weiner‘s former district, which he lost as a direct result of his decision to send “self portraits” to various women online.

As you probably know by now, New York’s 9th district was eventually won by a Republican in what turned out to be quite an upset to Democrats — and, as many of either side of aisle have noted over and over again, a direct blow to Barack Obama.

“How did the Democrats squander a gimme?” asked Stewart. Even former mayor Ed Koch voiced his (extremely) enthusiastic support for the Republican candidate. Rather curiously, Stewart spends most of time laying blame on David Weprin for being a weak Democratic candidate (and Anthony Weiner for, well. You know.), and not analyzing whether this was a deliberate message to DC courtesy of NY Democrats.
