Joy Behar Quotes MSNBC Host Claiming Republican Debates Are Being Held ‘In Case Trump Chokes on a Cheeseburger’
Joy Behar claimed that the GOP candidates are running for president due to reasons other than trying to actually win.
The View panel discussed the performances of the various candidates last night on the NBC News Republican debate stage with Behar saying the event was theatrical and lacked purpose.
Quoting MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell, Behar said, “the debates are only in case Trump chokes on a cheeseburger.”
“They’re waiting for something to happen to Trump, then they might have a shot,” she said, adding:
They’re all there for a different reason, it seems, rather than running for president. You know, like Vivek…I think he wants a job on news, he wants a job ABC News. Some kind of job on television. You know, Chris Christie seems to be trying to repair his image as a Trump supporter, by going in the other direction because Trump made a fool out of him, You know, And who else is there again? Nikki Haley. Nikki Haley is doing pretty well. But she’s young and she’s setting herself for 2028 or maybe beyond that. She’s very young.
Former President Donald Trump currently dominates the GOP field with a national lead of 58.5% on average with his closest rival, Ron DeSantis, standing at 14.4%, according to a polling average compiled by Real Clear Politics.
So far, Trump has refused to participate in any of the official RNC backed debates and has not committed to backing the GOP nominee in the event that he does not win.
