Kamala Harris Issues Warning to Intruders: ‘If Somebody Breaks Into My House, They’re Getting Shot’

Vice President Kamala Harris issued a warning to intruders during an interview with Oprah Winfrey on Thursday, declaring, “If somebody breaks into my house, they’re getting shot.”

After Winfrey spoke to the parents of a girl who was shot and injured during the September Apalachee High School shooting, Harris said:

I think for far too long on the issue of gun violence, some people have been pushing a really false choice to suggest you’re either in favor of the Second Amendment or you want to take everyone’s guns away. I’m in favor of the Second Amendment and I’m in favor of assault weapons bans, universal background checks, red flag laws, and these are just common sense. These are just common sense.

She continued, “I’m a gun owner, Tim Walz is a gun owner.”

“I did not know that!” replied Winfrey.

Harris then remarked, “If somebody breaks into my house, they’re getting shot. Sorry.”

“Probably shouldn’t have said that,” concluded Harris as she started to laugh. “But my staff will deal with that later.”

In recent years, Harris has spoken repeatedly about being a gun owner. The vice president reportedly owns a handgun, which she uses for self-defense.

“I am a gun owner, and I own a gun for probably the reason a lot of people do – for personal safety. I was a career prosecutor,” she said in 2019.

Harris’s running mate Tim Walz, a former member of the National Guard, is also a gun owner, and a hunter.
