Kayleigh McEnany Rails at CNN, Democrats Over Kenosha Unrest: They’re ‘Aiding and Abetting the Violence in the Street’
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany went on the attack on Thursday by suggesting Democrats and the media are working together to enable the violent unrest Kenosha and other parts of the country have seen in recent months.
Fox News’ Sandra Smith interviewed McEnany on Thursday to get her reaction to Vice President Mike Pence’s slams on Joe Biden during his RNC convention speech. Smith acknowledged that Biden has condemned the violent unrest, but she specifically asked McEnany to respond to a Biden campaign statement accusing Pence of using his speech to push “scare tactics” and “gaslighting.”
“It is a real travesty that it took the Democrats this long to mention the violence in our street,” McEnany said before rounding on the DNC convention. “It was ignored when they had the biggest platform. It was entirely ignored.”
McEnany continued to ignore how Biden sent months denouncing violent protests in order to redirect her toward Democrats in general and especially CNN. She honed in on two instances where the network covered the Kenosha unrest while using chyrons that downplayed the ongoing chaos and and destruction.
“The media, the Democrats are aiding and abetting the violence in the street,” McEnany claimed, “and this president has stood strong and said we will not let it spill into our neighborhoods like it did in Portland.”
