Kellyanne Derails Interview By Pummeling John Berman Over Clintons, Russia, CNN’s Ratings
Kellyanne Conway ended up having an enraged meltdown today at the end of her interview with John Berman.
The CNN anchor pressed Conway on a number of issues on Wednesday morning: from President Donald Trump‘s feud with the Philadelphia Eagles to Kelly Sadler‘s firing from the White House. Towards the end of the discussion, Berman grilled Conway over Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and — more specifically — her refusal to admit that Trump’s legal team confirmed she made false statements about Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with a Kremlin lawyer in 2016.
As Berman invoked Sanders, Conway did not address his query and instead, went on a rant dismissing the Russia “witch hunt” and mocking CNN for their “obsession” and desire to see Robert Mueller‘s investigation produce a smoking gun to tear down the Trump presidency. Berman noted that Mueller’s probe has brought indictments against multiple people, so Conway snapped at him by asking what evidence he has seen to prove Trump colluded with Russia.
As Berman brought up the infamous Trump Tower meeting against and false Trump-world statements relevant to the special counsel’s investigation, Conway spun away and brought up the DOJ Inspector General’s upcoming report on Hillary Clinton and James Comey. She went on to predict CNN would brush off any part of the report that would make Clinton look bad. Berman replied that Trump slammed the report this week for not getting released faster, all while sowing doubt over its integrity.
When Berman asked Conway if Trump has been briefed on the IG’s report and has something more to say about it, she flew off the handle with a wild tirade slamming CNN’s ratings, invoking the Clintons and proclaiming that Trump was elected with no help whatsoever from Russian forces.
Berman eventually stated — for an audience which had surely figured this out by now — that “this is a silly discussion.” That remark set off Conway once again.
