Fox News contributor Charles Krauthammer appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight on Thursday to discuss the recent Congressional special election losses by the Democrats.
Krauthammer explained how the party essentially has two separate factions, the Bernie Sanders wing, which he calls the base, and the Hillary Clinton wing, which he calls the majority.
And Krauthammer believes that the majority does not have a coherent message. And in the absence of a coherent message, Krauthammer believes the Clinton wing of the party tries to appeal to various constituencies.
“They appeal to Blacks, to Hispanics, to young people, to mostly women, but it’s mostly single women, to LGBT…It’s a stitching together of constituencies.
“So when you say, ‘what do you stand for?’, they can’t give an answer. So, what do they do? They invent this idea of diversity.”
Krauthammer went on to say that he doesn’t believe this to be a worthwhile strategy for the party.
“It’s a phony cause,” he said. “It’s an intellectual excuse for appealing to one constituency at a time. And that’s not a way for a party to survive.”
