Lou Dobbs Warns Kelllyanne Conway That Base Can Turn On Trump: ‘What He Promised Was a Wall’

Last week, after threatening on Twitter that he may veto it, President Donald Trump eventually signed the $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill. It has been reported that the president suddenly tossed the veto threat out there because he didn’t like the coverage he was getting from conservative media over the massive spending bill. Besides the size of the bill, Trump supporters were upset that the bill didn’t offer much spending for Trump’s long-promised border wall.

During an interview with White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, Fox Business host Lou Dobbs let the senior administration official know that while the president’s loyal defenders understand Trump has to deal with a lot of obstruction in Washington, they still expect a wall in the end.

After Conway noted that everyone has overreacted to the president’s actions only to discover that nothing tragic ever happens, she hyped up the Monday’s stock market gains as proof that predicted trade wars will not happen. This led Dobbs to praise Trump’s decision to impose tariffs while taking aim at the “establishment hacks” in D.C.

Eventually, Dobbs started excoriating Congressional leaders, namely Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. He said that anyone in the White House “peddling that stuff” about Trump being able to work with them is “full of it.”

Conway responded by crapping on Congress and highlighting its poor approval ratings before noting that Trump’s ratings are on the rise and his agenda is really taking hold, especially when it comes to tax cuts.

“Don’t push that too far,” Dobbs shot back. “What he promised was a wall.”

With Conway agreeing with Dobbs that he “better get it,” the Fox Business host stated that Trump has been in office for 15 months and he wasn’t elected because he was the guys that say “just wait.” The White House aide exclaimed that if Trump could do it by himself he would, causing Dobbs to say that it “turns the stomach of a lot of folks in his base” when he Republicans don’t seem to want to work with the president.

Conway concluded by saying that Trump is frustrated and he wants the wall as a centerpiece of his campaign, adding that “he is protecting the country.”

“You are talking to choir here, the audience of this broadcast, that is why they want that damn wall, Kellyanne,” Dobbs said in response.
